The aircraft in 2142 have been replaced from conventional methods of elevation to hovercraft, using advanced thruster technology. All aircraft are VTOL (Vertical Take-Off and Landing). Instead of having the two different classes of jets and helicopters, the two have been meshed together, to create a vehicle with the swiftness and lethality of a helicopter to ground targets, with the speed and precision of a jet to airborne targets (which applies mostly to Gunships)Note to snipers: Contray to popular beleive that you can't shoot the pilot due to the fact that the cockpit is reinforced, there is a weak spot. Exactly between the eyes is where a bullet will penitrate, thus the pilot will die and the plane will crash.
