Each team can have one Commander. The Commander is applied for at the beginning of each round and stays Commander until he leaves the server, steps down on his own, or gets voted out as Commander. Players higher in rank have more priority when applying for Commander.
As Commander in Titan mode, he is given the ability to move his team's Titan. In Conquest mode he stands on the field just as everybody else, but has access to Orbital Srtike.
Each commander has access to a few assets. These are represented in the game as objects that can be destroyed and then repaired again. Once destroyed the commander has no more access to these assets until they are repaired to the minimum level.
These assets include EMP strikes, supply drops, SAT-Tracks to reveal heat sources (but only to the Commander),U nmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) scans to point out enemy locations for everyone on the team, and in Conquest mode only, Orbital Artillery Strikes.
The commander score is divided in two parts. The actual commander score and the commander bonus points. The commander score is what wou will need to get the awards that talk about commander score, the bonus points only count towards your career points.
Commander score follows a not so easy scheme. In general you can say your score is the average of your teams score, but this is not the precise method. For each point a member of your team gets during a round, you get that point divided trhough the number of people in your team. So as an example, if someone gets 1 point and your team has 10 people, you get 0.1 score added. So if everyone of your team gets 1 score, you get 1 score as well. At the end of the round, only the full scores you accumulated will count, all fractions are rounded down. So if you have a few people who do not score anything, they will effectively stunt your score as commander.
Bonus score is applied for good squad work. This means that if you give squads orders to attack or defend, they accept that order and then one of the squadmembers actually kills someone in the area where the command is located, you get a bonus point. These count towards your career score.
Actions such as EMP strike, UAV, orbital strike, supply drops, killing enemies yourself, capturing and defending control points/silos will not count at all towards your score in any way.
At the end of each round, the commander of the winning team gets his points doubled. The commander of the losing team will have his points stay the same.
Often people ask how to get commander points, or certain score for certain awards. As you can read above, it does not depend really on you, but your team. So you need to find a good team just to get score.
To reach certain scores, the same applies again, but most rounds are too short. The rounds will be over too fast for you to reach your score. So what to do? First play Titan mode, those maps are always taking a bit longer. Alternatively a map like Shuia Taiba in Conquest might also work, but the chances of your team getting high scores is not so big, so stick with Titan mode. Good maps are Minsk, Suez Canal and Sidi Power Plant. Go into servers with low usercounts (as maximum users) like 20 or 32. This slows down the game more and makes it easier to control the map. Check if the server allows moving the titan, at least while shields are up. Thenm ove your titan to the center of the map and hope your enemy does the same. Otherwise try to park your titan close to his. If you are about 200 meters away its fine, this allows your team to pod on to their titan (and vice versa, which is what you want). Now while the titan inches its way across the map, your job is to assist your team. Go Recon and snipe enemies once so they loose health and your team can faster kill them, getting points easier, which means more score for you. Never ever capure a silo, instead, neutralize it then run away. This will stretch out the fight, but only do this in a round you want to get the needed score for an award, otherwise it wont be much use to you, a faster gameplay is better in all other situations. Once the shields are down, decide whats better. Do not ill people on either Titan, you want the game to go long, remember? Instead go to the gorund and keep neutralizing silos. An FAV vehicle or air transport would be ideal for this as it give you fast access to almost all spots. Dont worry about deaths you will get in this. Prolonging the round is your goal.
If both teams are pretty equally strong, the fights on both Titans will rake in lots of points for your team which will result in your commander score being high enough.
It does NOT matter if you win or lose! In fact, if you lose you can see your commander score pretty clearly, if you win, the score will show up double of what it really is, and what you really need to win. You can see your current score during gameplay when you look at the scoreboard (TAB key), so an eye on that. It might take you a while to find a server that has good conditions and good teams. But dont give up.
