Basic description

The Engineer class has two major functions, destroying vehicles and repairing them. Each side has by default an anti vehicle rocket system. They are both about equal and have a tracking mechanism. That means you shoot and keep the fire button pressed and keep aiming where you want the shot to go while the rockets follow your aim. Very handy for moving targets. Usually after two direct hits a tank is almost dead. If you land both in a weak spot, the vehicle is done for. If you are in a vehicle, or near one, you can get your Hoff-3000 out and repair it. This works pretty slowly, so upgrading via unlock to the DysTek Repair v2.0 might be an idea. Also you cannot repair things while sitting in your vehicle without the DysTek Repair v2.0. The biggest difference to other kits, is that you do not have a pistol. Instead, you have an SMG. Its damage is a tiny bit lower to that of pistols, but you have a larger magazine and of course, full auto fire at close range. Dont try medium or long range shots with the SMGs, as that will get you most likely killed.

Equipment

Unlocks

The unlocks for the Engineer class take the form of an Anti-Vehicle role or a Mine and Anti-Air role. They can be unlocked in the order they are listed. Each of the two lists can be unlocked separatly, meaning you could unlock one of them up to the third unlock and then start the second list, or unlock something from each list alternating between them. (Unlocks displayed here go from top to bottom).

Anti-Vehicle Specialization

  1. AE Defuser (Defuses explosives)
  2. NetBat Vehicle ID (Passive, relays vehicle type and location of a vehicle to squad members)
  3. PDS-1 (Works as a smaller, static UAV for vehicles only)
  4. Pilum H-AVR (Heavy anti-vehicle rifle)
  5. MMB 5 Motion Mine Bait (Attracts enemy mines to thrown location and detonates them)

Engineer Specialization

  1. II-14 EMP (Stationary EMP Mine)
  2. DysTek Repair v2.0 (Passive, repairs faster and from within vehicles)
  3. II-29 Motion Mine (Motion activated, tracking mine)
  4. Mitchell SAAW 86 (Anti-Air Weapon System)
  5. SMG Clip Expansion (increases number of rounds in SMG)

Guide

The Engineer has two roles clearly cut out; destroying enemy vehicles and keeping friendly vehicles alive. It's no big surprise, but the engineer is also the number 1 asset in a Titan assault.

Each console takes only 3 hits to destroy with the two standard weapons, and similar with the Pilum H-AVR. Even though one support soldier alone can accomplish that, he would be much slower. Always have a support soldier handy though, as after 6 rockets your SMG wont do much good on consoles. Your rockets also do a lot of damage to the core, so let others guard the room while you smash the reactor with rockets. While other weapons do minimal damage, each rocket impact is clearly visible on the Titan hull strength indicator.

When assaulting the Titan, it is nearly essential to bring along the AE Defuser, as you will need it to defuse any enemy traps laid out for you and your comrades. Take it like Bomb Squad, and keep friendlies away while you work or else the enemy might detonate the explosive. Even should your target detonate, it is likely it could also detonate other traps around it, leaving your allies room to clear the area and revive you.
