Firing a custom-designed, 14mm flechette round, the Park 52 Sniper Rifle provides an equivalent level of force and precision as the EU Morretti SR4 without the cumbersome design factors. Fabricated using the latest metallurgic technologies, the lightweight Park 52 counters accuracy-hampering movement through shock-resistant, plastic steel barrel bedding. A high-magnification scope allows the sniper a long-range visual field, which can be upgraded through the DysTek Hi-Scope x4.
There is nothing special here really. You can read basically all of it in the specs. You draw 0.166 seconds faster and you reload 0.4 seconds slower than the EU counterpart. The Morretti's scope also has a wider field of vision so you can see more at once. Other than that the two weapons are identical.
An important note when using sniper rifles is that the rounds will still drop with distanceas in Battlefield 2, but much less over longer ranges. The rifle requires no agnle adjustment up to 170m. From 171 to 180m, aim about half-way between the reticle and the first line below. For 181-240m, aim about 3/4 to the first line below. For 241-270m, aim using the first line below. For 271-320m, aim using just below the first line. Beyond that requires much more experimentation.
Sniper rifles also have travel time that will require leading at certain distances. It is difficult to determine how far to lead ahead of a target, but if a target is walking, generally lead about a body's width ahead, and if the target is sprinting, lead two width's ahead. Experiment on your own to learn the curves of effective sniping.
To get efficient practice in sniping and learning bullet drop, search the Advanced server tab in 2142 and look for HK_Snipe Maps. This is a ranked server that runs 24/7 large open Conquest maps such as Minsk, Tunis Harbor, and Suez Canal, and sanctions the use of the recon kit with sniper rifles (Medics are allowed to slow ticket loss).
